Lisa & John | Portugal | Wedding

Back in sunny September I headed to Lisa and John’s wedding in Portugal. Actually my first time as a Portugal wedding photographer and I can’t wait to return. I love travelling, and whilst this ‘job’ has taken me far and wide in the UK it was my first time abroad in Portugal.

Quinta do Sanguinhal near Bombarral made for a beautiful backdrop. Located at the heart of the wine region of Lisbon it produces award winning wine. Not only were the buildings and gardens beautiful, but the backdrop of vineyards made for some of my all time favourite couple photographs. I thanked my lucky stars for the good dose of sunlight.

John has been visiting Portugal since he was very small and he has family connections there so it having the wedding there made prefect sense. They used (great smelling) confetti made from dried Norfolk lavender as a little reminder of home.

I’m sure wedding dress connoisseurs will recognise Lisa’s Jenny Packham gown. A little shout out to Holly Rudge for working her hair styling magic. I admired John’s courage for wearing a three piece Burberry suit in the heated Portuguese climate. John Matta and friends played the night away. I would recommend them to anybody.

The evening finished with firework streamers (I don’t know the real proper name!) whilst John and Lisa cut a traditional Portuguese wedding cake.

A massive thank you to John and Lisa for having me. Thank you for including me and making me feel so welcome and I wish you both as much happiness and laughter as I saw on your wedding day.

Ps. 1 month on, I am still trying to lose the weight gained from eating my own body weight in pastéis de nata.
