Berwick Lodge is one of those venues that really has it all. Tucked away just outside Bristol, it’s a beautiful country house hotel that feels elegant and full of character, but never overly formal. It’s a very relaxed wedding venue.
I always love going there and the team are genuinely some of the most friendly and helpful people you will work with on a wedding day. Whether it is warm summer light spilling across the gardens or a cosy winter celebration inside the house it’s just a lovely place to be.
As a wedding photographer, Berwick Lodge is a great place to shoot at because of the variety it offers. You can get married inside or outside. The interior is really nice but I’ve also spent all day outside, even including the DJ in the tent. The gardens give you space to wander, there are views over Avonmouth and the rooms are a lovely backdrop.
So, to sum up Berwick Lodge is a great spot for couples who want a relaxed, romantic celebration with plenty of atmosphere, all set in a really stunning location just outside the city. With accommodation on site.

I LOVE BERWICK LODGE
If there’s one venue that really stands out as one of the best in and around Bristol, then Berwick Lodge has to be right up there. It’s right on the outskirts of the city and close to the M4 and M5.
Also, if I am allowed to be selfish then it is literally a 10 minute drive from my house in North Bristol.
A BIT ABOUT IT
Berwick Lodge has everything you could possibly want from a wedding venue and then some. It is a beautiful country house set just outside Bristol, full of charm, character and beautiful gardens.
This means that alongside the aesthetics, the venue also has an incredible feel to it, which is so important when you are spending one of the most meaningful days of your life there.
CHURCH WEDDING?
If you are looking for a religious ceremony, there are plenty of lovely churches nearby just a short drive from Berwick Lodge. You can also have civil ceremonies inside the house or in the gardens. I guess it just depends on the feel you want for your day and the weather!
Inside, the ceremony space is bright and has plenty of light. Outside, the gardens offer a natural setting that also works perfectly for a wedding ceremony.
I have photographed some brilliant ceremonies here as a Berwick Lodge wedding photographer, and what always stands out is how personal they feel. The space really allows couples to do things their own way.
THE RECEPTION
Where can you go after the ceremony? At Berwick Lodge, the celebration naturally flows out onto the gardens and lawn, where guests can relax, mingle, and really settle into the day.
I have seen couples make the most of that space in so many fun ways, from drinks on the terrace to lawn games in the sunshine. There’s a swing in the tree that always gets some use and a massive water fountain that I’m sure my get some use on hot days!
One of my favourite moments was watching everyone head outside after the ceremony for a bit of spontaneous 3pm limbo. You do not get enough 3pm limbo at weddings, in my opinion!
