Alex & Kim | Mas Torroella | Wedding
Mas Torroella Wedding
I was thrilled to get a booking from Alex and Kim. I’d met them whilst photographing Alex’s sister’s amazing wedding in Italy. I remembered them from the day and they obviously liked my San Galgano wedding photos (cheeky plug (but another incredible wedding!)) I love a destination wedding, whilst it’s a little more work and worry you can’t beat getting married outside in the sunshine. Everyone has a holiday vibe and the evening parties are often pretty wild. The Mas Torroella wedding venue is beautiful villa and only a two hour drive from Barcelona airport.
I do remember it being hot (unsurprisingly!) but with a little wind so it was a really nice climate. Alex looked the business with his white blazer and Kim looked incredible in her wedding gown.
My favourite three things about their Mas Torroella wedding start with… the fact that everyone jumped in to the pool at 1am. The photo above has to be one of my favourites from 2019 – and possibly of all my time doing wedding photography. We absolutely nailed this shot and the lighting I set up (in a hurry) worked just great.
My second favourite thing was the speeches. I enjoy the speeches at every wedding – but they were so impassioned (and a little brutal in places!) They are one of the things I remember from the day. Alex and Kim had a really tight friend group, and all of their friends and family who were there wouldn’t have ever missed it.
My final favourite thing about the day was the food. Can’t say I had a whole lot of time to hang around eating – but I do remember devouring at least 2 pizzas from the pizza truck. Alex and Kim were so hospitable and having a little taste of the food is one of the little luxuries that make destination weddings a little bit special!
A massive thanks to Alex and Kim for having me. I left your wedding absolutely buzzing with energy and if you ever renew your vows – email me!
Here are a few shout outs to people who made the wedding photography a little bit easier! It was great to do a wedding with Ben Walton again. Delicious Barcelona for the catering, lighting, seating and tableware. Hair stylist was Hair by Megan Boyne and silk flowers from Rebel Roses. Invitations were designed by the Kim and the saxophonist-Sax on Ara. I remember the DJ, DJ-Beats and Roll was EXCELLENT! Then last but not least the celebrant Xavier Bodasciviles.
Lastly I couldn’t write this blog without mentioning Kim’s destination wedding planning service.
On with the Mas Torroella wedding photography!
