Hannah & Chris | The Battleaxes | Wraxall, Bristol

The Battleaxes Wedding Photography

My first time doing Battleaxes wedding photography just 20 minutes from my home! Despite being a Bristol wedding photographer I tend to travel far and wide, so it was with a renewed sense of vigour that I rocked up to Hannah and Chris’s wedding. I have been to The Battleaxes a few times before, mainly on Sundays and often with friends. I did not know that they did weddings though!

Turns out it’s in a really sweet spot in Somerset with some beautiful locations for couple photos. The ceremony room in the Battleaxes has some great window light and lots of space.

It is a quirky little venue and quite unsuspecting. But with lots of charming character it makes it really it makes it really lovely backdrop to relax wedding to a relaxed wedding.

The beautiful fields at the Botton of the Battleaxes. They were so convenient for getting amazing couple photos (although we did have to be mindful of some cows.) It was great to slip away after the speeches and grab a few photos in the evening light. It’s a perfect spot for this and with great views, a tree and little ups and downs you can make some really unique photos.

The great light inside the venue. Although some areas have some fairly orange lighting their are many spots which are bathed in glorious window light. Even on a rainy day there are quite a few spots which would look great for couple photos and possibly family photos.

Anyway, enough chat – enjoy this little Battleaxes wedding photography preview. Chris and Hannah were SO easy to work with. It was a pleasure getting to know them a little and of course an honour to take these photos. Good luck in your new lives together! 2024 update! Sadly this venue is now closed, but if you’re looking for some ideas for the best wedding venues in Bristol then I hope this list is helpful.
