THE DREAM SPOT FOR COUPLES AFTER THAT ROMANTIC, LAID-BACK SOMERSET VIBE

I am a regular photographer at Coombe Lodge (I live very nearby in South Bristol.) Because I get to visit so often I’m thrilled to be a recommended supplier. Coombe Lodge is a country house wedding venue near Blagdon in Somerset. It’s very near the Chew Valley and one of my favourite local wedding venues in the South West. What’s more I regularly photograph Coombe Lodge and a few of my images feature on the official Coombe Lodge website.

You can really make the day your own as there are lots of different spots to hold the ceremony. Also, there is a lot of green space outside with great views. It’s such a nice spot for everyone to enjoy drinks and cocktails… and you do get the most amazing sunsets too.

I actually photographed weddings here in the early days before the guest rooms were fitted. It’s really handy to be able to get ready at Coombe Lodge. You have the run of the house and it feels very much like home. In addition the food is incredible and the staff are always welcoming.

If it’s of help I put together a list of other amazing local wedding suppliers who I regularly see. Makeup artists, bands, florists, magicians, weddings planner – you’ll find them all here. And if it’s of any help you can see my best wedding venues in Bristol here.

I LOVE COOMBE LODGE

Creative reportage wedding photography for fun, relaxed and beautiful weddings

Now, let’s get one thing straight: I adore this place!

Coombe Lodge is a country house wedding venue near Blagdon in Somerset, very near the Chew Valley and one of my favourite local wedding venues in the South West.

Coombe Lodge is one of my favourite venues in the South West, and as I live nearby in Bristol I’m lucky enough to be a regular Coombe Lodge wedding photographer. I’m also honoured to be a recommended Coombe Lodge wedding photographer by the venue themselves; you can even see a few of my images on the site!

5 reasons to get married at Coombe Lodge

There are loads of reasons why I love being a Coombe Lodge wedding photographer – and therefore why I’d highly recommend choosing it as your wedding venue, if you’re looking to get married in and around the South West.

But because we haven’t got all day – I know wedding planning can be very time-consuming, and it’s part of my job to make it as easy as possible – here’s my top 5:

1. There’s loads of beautiful ceremony spots

Coombe Lodge is a distinguished country house dating back nearly a century (which is to say – it’s faaaaancy!). Not only does it look impressive on the outside, but it radiates glamour on the inside too. What this means for your wedding is multiple different spots available for your ceremony, each as jaw-dropping as the last. Inside, there are a number of rooms complete with glittering chandeliers and stunning period features, where you can say I do, all with views of the immaculate gardens too.
Outdoor ceremonies

Or, maybe you want to get married outdoors! The gardens at Coombe Lodge are perfect for this. The picturesque stone archway is an excellent ceremony spot, and the views are to die for (as are the sunsets – the sunsets I’ve witnessed over the years are one of my favourite parts of being a Coombe Lodge wedding photographer, second only to the incredible people I get to work with!)

The number of options available means that you can truly make the day completely your own, and the team are so helpful in making your dreams become a reality

2. As well as lots of stunning reception options

The joy of a Coombe Lodge wedding doesn’t stop at the ceremony! Oh no. During the summer, you can enjoy your drinks and nibbles with all of your nearest and dearest on the impressive balcony or intimate courtyard. If you’re planning a winter wedding, or prefer to be inside, why not have your drinks reception in the wood-panelled lounge and gallery, complete with open fire and grand piano.

Plus, as well as the Music Room which can seat 160 for the meal, there are also additional rooms that can be turned into children’s areas, or even a separate tea and coffee lounge.

3. You get exclusive use of the house

Choosing Coombe Lodge as your wedding venue offers you the chance to have everything altogether in one place, because as well as exclusive use of the house and gardens, you get exclusive use of the twelve luxurious bedrooms onsite too. (And when I say luxurious, I mean it: some of them have bathtubs in the bedroom. You’re can’t tell me that’s not the dream!) This means you can truly relax and enjoy the day, without having to worry about transportation or taxis. It truly does feel like home for the weekend.

4. In an incredible setting

I know what you’re thinking: Albert, I’m in love with the place already! Surely there can’t be even more incredible spaces?! But believe me, there are. As well as the gardens, Coombe Lodge boasts woodland, wide open fields and views of Blagdon Lake, which all make for sensational backdrops for couple photos. I’ve been a Coombe Lodge wedding photographer for a few years now, but every time I take photos here I find new spots, new corners and great light for my brilliant couples.

Churches near Coombe Lodge
The most popular is St. Andrews Church in Blagdon. The big bonus of this church is that it’s only a short drive. It’s very convenient (and it’s also quite spacious inside!)

But I’ve also been to ceremonies at the Bath Guildhall and St Christopher’s Church in Lympsham. Two other churches worth considering in Bristol are Sacred Heart Church and All Saints Church in Clifton.

5. And the food is sensational

Of course, as a Coombe Lodge wedding photographer I’m going to wax lyrical about the aesthetics, but a huge part of it is the experience as well. And the foodie experience at Coombe Lodge is nothing short of divine, using finest local produce from Bristol and the West Country.
