Chateau de Keriolet Wedding
It was my pleasure to travel to Brittany in Northern France for Cho and Gauthier’s Chateau de Keriolet wedding. You may have already seen them on my Instagram, as we met up in Cornwall and Bath previously for pre-wedding photos. They are a really fun couple and we had a lot of laughs!
Cho and Gauthier had a beautiful ceremony at the town hall in Concarneau before heading on to Chateau de Keriolet for an outdoor wedding ceremony. Gauthier’s sister did an amazing job as the celebrant where she had to speak in both French and English.
Chateau de Keriolet dates back to the 13th century and is an incredible venue to have a wedding. The grounds and architecture are spectacular. One of the most dramatic parts is the courtyard, which is a mix of Medieval, Renaissance and Neo-Gothic architecture.
I was particularly taken with the main gate which had a drawbridge and probably took a few too many photos there! But it looked great with the sunshine flooding in from the back.
The inside of the castle has been painstakingly restored over the last twenty years. The rooms for the wedding reception were breathtaking. I think my favourite moment from the day was the impromptu speeches that happened after the meal. It was great to hear friends and family stand up and speak from the heart. They had sparklers, a champagne tower, games… it was a fun day!
My second favourite moment was the first look where Cho and Gauthier met before the ceremony. Breaking from the UK tradition it was a really lovely moment.
One of my favourite things about destination weddings is the holiday vibe. No doubt the French know how to party, and with lots of family from the UK in the party spirit the dance floor was great to capture!
